San Andrés Larráinzar is located approx. 26 km from San Cristobal de las Casas in the Highlands of Chiapas.

The principal language is Tzotzil and 98 percent of the municipality's inhabitants (23,889 in 2015) are Native Mexicans.

Many things have changed in the municipality in just one generation.

In the next chapter Andrés Ruiz tells us about the traditions of the village, about Mayan mythology and about his everyday life with technology and dreams for the future.
